"Must" Diagramming

I understand that in this passage the first sentence should be diagrammed like an either/or statement. In general though, how should the word "must" be treated? Is it like "if"?

Hi Claudia, thanks for the question.

In general, we treat must as a necessary condition. Must denotes something that is necessary and for that reason it goes on the necessary side of the diagram. If is treated as sufficient. So these words differ in what they indicate.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions!
