Why not E?

Why can't the answer be E. The prompt states "Everyone who participates in local politics has an influence on the community's values." Everyone therefore is similar to All and wouldn't E be the correct answer?

Hi @Joyce,

Answer (A) is correct because it connects what we've learned in the premises. The first sentence tells us that people who participate in politics include people who are interested in service and people who are opportunists. Note that this is just two categories of people who participate because of the word "include." Then, the second sentence tells us that EVERYONE who participates in politics has influence. So, we know that some people who are interested in service have an influence and some people who are opportunists have an influence and other random people also have an influence (aka those other people who also participate in politics). Thus, Answer (A) must be true because we know some opportunists have an influence.

Answer (E) is incorrect because it misses two possibilities. First, as described above, we don't know that those are the only two types of people who are involved in local politics. Second, we don't know whether people who are not involved in local politics can have an influence. The passage never states that people involved in politics are the only ones who can have an influence.
