This is where cause and effect can be confusing

I kept on thinking of an alternate cause for the conclusion as opposed to why the premises may be false or a conclusion doesn't follow. Hence A and C seemed pretty interesting to me even though I knew B would make the conclusion not follow.

Hi @Shirnel,

Thanks for the question! First off, it’s good that you’re considering alternate causes because those will be very important for some questions. However, as you don’t want to go too crazy with alternate causes: here, it helps to use a bit of common sense in determining what is reasonable and what’s not. And keep in mind, as you seemed to have for this question, that there will always be one answer that is definitively the best answer, in this case (B). You noted that (B) would definitely make the conclusion not follow and picked it, even though you had lingering doubts about (A) and (C), and they might have weakened the argument. But (B) definitely did, and so it was the best answer. So good job on getting that part of the LSAT down! Sometimes, it might be the case that some answers could potentially weaken the argument, but in the end, one of them is going to be stronger than the others.

Hope this helps! Feel free to ask any other questions that you might have.
