I struggled with this because the rules say that when "Unless" is used whatever follows is a necessary statement. However, with the diagram in the video, unless is diagrammed as the sufficient condition. Could you please explain this contradiction?

Thanks for the question! This reason that you can really diagram unless in the sufficient or necessary condition is because of the contrapositive. Remember that one way of diagramming X unless Y is ~Y —> X (this is the way that I was brought up to do it). But if we take the contrapositive of that statement, we get ~X —> Y. And those two statements are logically equivalent. So really, you can diagram it either way, as long as you remember to negate the first term.
