Game 3 Question 14

So I got this question correct after going through each answer choice but, when I first read through the answers I knew that (E) R, would be right because the rules don't state anything about R. So, is this approach valid or do you think we still need to go through each answer choice?

Hi @ginakd,

Thanks for the question! I wouldn’t rely on that kind of approach too much, though there are certainly games where you might check out an answer first based on a player not being mentioned in a rule. In this question, you might even focus more on (E) because of it, but I wouldn’t just go through the question and pick (E) because R isn’t mentioned in a rule, because that could definitely lead to problems at some point. And of course, it is best to make sure you go through the other answer choices.

For this one, for example, you can tell that if M is the chairperson, then M and J are going to be the two tenants chosen (based on the second-to-last rule on the second rule), and since M and P can’t be selected, Q R and S must be selected. This is also a pretty quick way to do the problem, and much safer. You can also similarly eliminate other choices quickly: you can eliminate (A) and (B) because they’re both tenants and you already know the two tenants are M and J, and you can get rid of (D) because of the last rule that make M and P mutually exclusive. So that really leaves you between K and R in that case and you can make a hypothetical. But I wouldn’t say this one is because R isn’t mentioned.

Hope this helps! Feel free to ask any other questions that you might have.
