Game 1 Question 7

I have issue with option D and E. Option D: If G is 5th we can either put O in 4th or 7th slot. Option E: If G is 6th, we can only put O in 5th slot. Am not just clear on why D is the correct answer.

Hi @Yemisi,

Answer choice (E) is incorrect because there are at least two possible options for the placement of O.

Option 1:

1: H/S
2: S/H
3: P
4: L
5: O
6: G
7: N

Option 2:

1: L
2: O
3: P
4: N
5: H/S
6: G
7: S/H

Notice that both options meet all of the restrictions. L is played immediately before O. The news tape is played after L and there are exactly two time slots between P and G.

Answer choice (D) is correct because there is only one possible option for the placement of O.

If G is in time slot 5, then P must be in time slot 2 because it is the only time slot that allows for two spaces to be left in between P and G.

There are then two possible options for L and O: (1) time slots 3 and 4; or (2) time slots 6 and 7.

L and O cannot go in time slots 6 and 7 because N must go after L. Therefore, the only possible position for L and O is in time slots 3 and 4.

1: H/S
2: P
3: L
4: O
5: G
6: S/H/N
7: N/H/S

Hope this is helpful! Please let us know if you have any further questions.
