Speaker I

In the review it is explained that speaker I is saying rock songs ARE NOT DURABLE. However, I understood speak I saying that no rock songs are durable as the rock songs in the 1940’s, which are being re-recorded. I understood this to be that 1940’s rock songs are durable and thus are being re-recorded. And understood the other speaker giving an alternate explanation or durability. And that’s how I arrived at the correct answer. But the review says speak I doesn’t imply that... Please advise! p.s. I am reading the reviews however if I ask a question it’s because the review isn’t clear to me. Thus, I would appreciate a response. Thank you.

Hi @Shirnel,

Thanks for the question! I think that the review might have over spoken a little bit. I agree with you that we can’t really jump from “rock music has produced no songs as durable as the songs of the 1940s” to “rock music is not durable.” However, in this question, it doesn’t make a difference, and the explanation may have just been writing that as a quicker way of getting the idea across that they’re not as durable. Speaker I is definitely not saying 1940s rock songs are durable, though. Ingrid is saying that the songs of the 1940s (which are not rock songs) are durable, and rock music is not as durable as these songs. The 1940s songs have continued to be recorded by numerous performers, which is why Speaker I thinks that they are durable. Rock music has not been recorded by numerous performers usually, which is what Jerome says.

Hope this helps! Feel free to ask any other questions that you might have.
