Why is B wrong?

Hello there. I am really curious as to why B is incorrect when the stimulus states, “EACH morning...” and B states, “WHEN there is a shortage of food in the area...” which sounds like a contradiction. While E elaborates on why flocks move between roosts, in my thought process, I see that it could be possible that this can happen because the stimulus doesn’t specifically state why they move. I would greatly appreciate your feedback. Thank you!

Hi @rjaf123,

Thanks for the question! (B) is wrong because we can’t really reject it with the statements we’re given in the stimulus. It’s completely possible that when there’s a shortage of food in the area in which a flock normally hunts and scavenges, some members hunt and scavenge outside that area. Nothing in the prompt disproves that, so it’s hard to justifiably reject it based on the prompt. Remember that “when” here just means “if.” So each morning, the crows will go hunting. But if there’s a shortage of food, then some might go hunt and scavenge outside; again, nothing in the passage disproves that, so (B) can’t be the right answer.

(E) can’t happen because the hunting ranges extend for 60-80 miles, whereas the crows only move about five miles away. So moving five miles because of depleted resources in a 60-80 mile radius doesn’t really make any sense, and is the most easily rejected out of the answer choices.
