Hypotheticals

What is the best strategy when it comes to hypotheticals? Is it advised to write out the work I am able to do in my head so that I have the hypotheticals to use on later questions? It seems like writing everything out could slow me down, but I am wondering what you suggest.

Hi Alicat6, thanks for the question.

The decision to create hypotheticals is really based on personal preference. However, there are different considerations that might make it more valuable in certain scenarios to create these hypotheticals compared to others.

When diagramming for my own games, I look at rules or scenarios presented, and if the rule/scenario makes it such that there are a very limited set of possibilities for the game to unfold, I will diagram those out.

I usually tap out at 4 scenario just because I am nervous about spending too much time diagramming, in the case where I might miss something and then I spent most of my time upfront.

But when I can create 2 or 3 specific scenarios, I do that.

Here for example. I created two scenarios, one with the in group being two tenants and three homeowners, and the other with the in group being three tenants and two homeowners.

Once you get hypotheticals written, fill them out as far as you can. You will likely answer many questions before even looking at them just by filling in the different diagrams.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
