Answer Choice E
I selected answer choice C because the passage states "Poor scientific work on the part of any one scientist is, .... is not harmful." My reasoning was that a team of scientists is more than one scientist alone and could be harmful? I understand now why A is correct, but can you explain option E?

Answer choice (E) is incorrect because it is irrelevant to the conclusion. The passage concludes that there is no reason why scientific work must be confirmed before being published because other scientists will replicate the experiments, thereby either confirming or denying the scientific findings.
When the passage says that poor scientific work on the part of any one scientist is not harmful, it is more referring to the poor scientific work that may back up any one experiment. The author of the passage is saying that poor scientific work underlying an experiment doesn't matter because other scientists will try to replicate it and expose its flaws.
Therefore, it doesn't matter how many scientists work on the team that conducts the flawed experiment as the author posits that these flaws will eventually be discovered through replication.
Hope this helps! Please let us know if you have any further questions.
