Why is answer A correct

I really cant understand why A is correct. Just because they are not beat does not mean they haven't been tied. How can we actually deduce that from the passage?

Thanks for the question! The answer to your question involves reading the stimulus and the answer choices very carefully. Remember, we’re told that sharks have a greater resistance to cancer than any other organism. That means that nothing can tie sharks; if you pick ANY other organism, sharks will have a higher resistance to cancer. That’s the natural meaning of “greater…than any other.” For example, if I said that this runner runs faster than any other person in the world, it means they’re the #1 fastest, and no one ties them. It’s not phrased as “no other organism in the world has a greater resistance to cancer than the shark,” in which case you’d be right that there could be ties. It’s that sharks are better than all others. And so (A) can’t be true, because it says some organisms can resist as well as sharks.
