Question 6

I am so confused on how he derived this answer, after stating Judith did not disagree with Anthony's conclusion. So how is the correct answer D? and not B?

Hi Dawn, thanks for the question.

The interesting note about answer choice B is that it states that the conclusion would lead to absurd consequences and that this is what she points out as what's wrong with his argument. Whereas, in fact, Judith does not think that using marijuana leading to heroin use would lead to absurd consequences, she thinks that the reasoning he used to get to this conclusion would lead to absurd consequences (i.e. proving that any correlation = causation). Breathing makes one a murderer because all murderers breathe, or enjoying food makes you a genius because most geniuses enjoy food, etc.).

This is why B is wrong, while D actually correctly describes Judith's concerns with Anthony's argument.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
