Can someone please explain the difference between "evidence" and "alternative explanation"? What would constitute the former and latter? Thanks in advance!

Hi @kenken,

Thanks for the question! So “evidence’ is just something that will support possibly a premise, but usually a conclusion of some kind. So for example, it’s raining outside. What’s my evidence? Well, I’m walking outside and it’s wet. That’s all evidence is.

An alternative explanation is another way to explain some kind of phenomenon. For example, let’s say the lights turn off, and someone says that it’s because someone flipped the switch by accident. Well, an alternative explanation is just another way of explaining what happened. So here, an alternative explanation might be that the power went out.

Hope this helps! Feel free to ask any other questions that you might have.
