After we make the deduction that C cannot place 7th, and we know from rule 2 that both A and B place before C, can't we make the deduction immediately that neither A nor B place 6th?

I suppose another question would be if it is generally better to refrain from excessively making deductions outside of the ones most readily apparent by the initial rules. In other words, would the above deduction that I'm asking about and others like it, be a waste of time to make?
