Which one of the following most accurately states the main point of the passage?

Answer A

Like the two other unanswered individuals, I’m having trouble understanding why A is incorrect. I know that one person already explained it but I’m still a little lost. It might just be my device, but sometimes instructors’ replies will have odd characters mixed in with their responses so I couldn’t quite read through what he was saying. Nevertheless, I’m still having trouble finding what was wrong with A. Please help

Hi @Itzelth-Gamboa,

Thanks for the question! So this question is asking us about the main point of the passage. Remember that this answer is both going to have to be true (supported by the passage) and also the “main point” (as opposed to some little random side detail).

So let’s take a look at (A). It tells us that the Hippocratic oath ought to be reevaluated carefully, with special regard to the role of the physician, to make certain that its fundamental moral rules still apply today. Is this supported by the passage? Well, we’re actually told that the fundamental moral rules of the Hippocratic oath (like the core value of beneficence) do apply today, and indeed should serve as the core for when there are some reforms made (take a look at around lines 47-52). It’s not the fundamental moral rules that need to be reassessed, and so (A) isn’t supported by the passage to the extent (B) is and is incorrect.

Hope this helps! Feel free to ask any other questions that you might have.
