the 'Some' in option D

hi, I was able to choose option D by process of elimination and prephrasing. However what made me doubt my choice was the fact that the option said some hybrids. vogel doesn't use the term some in his argument. He believes hybrids don't need protection. I know all includes some , so technically it's not wrong, but since this is a must be true subtype it made me question.. thankss in advanced !!

Hi @ankita96,

Thanks for the question! Yes, you’re right in that Vogel doesn’t use the term some in his argument. But again, you’re also right in that “all” includes “some.” So when Vogel says “hybrids do not need protection,” that’s equivalent to saying that “all hybrids don’t need protection,” or again equivalently, “no hybrids need protection.” And since “no hybrids need protection,” then it can’t be true that “some hybrids need protection,” since as you said, some is a subset of all.

So what it comes down to is this: we know that Harris would agree with (D). So what does Vogel think about (D), that some hybrids ought to be protected by endangered species regulations? Vogel would disagree, since Vogel thinks that no hybrids should be protected. And since Harris agrees and Vogel disagrees, this is a point at issue, and (D) is the correct answer.

Hope this helps! Feel free to ask any other questions that you might have.
