Video Lesson Question 3 / Rule Diagram #2

Ok so we are told reverse and negate. Rule # 2 for question 3 is: Z1---->L > O CONTRA-POSITIVE: O > L ----> ~Z1 How come the lentils and onions are not negated? I'm confused, though I have to say even negated I'm not sure it makes sense either. Please explain.

Hi @cglee,

Thanks for the question! So actually, in this question, the lentils and onions are negated! So remember, rule #2 tells us that if Z is first, then L comes before O. And remember there aren’t ties in this game. So the contrapositive is when L doesn’t come before O, then Z doesn’t come first. In other words, if L comes after O, then Z isn’t first. And that’s what that rule says!

Z1 —> L > O

tells us if Z is first, then L is before O. The contrapositive is

O > L —> ~Z1

or if O is before L (the negation of L being before O), then Z isn’t first!

Hope this helps! Feel free to ask any other questions that you might have.
