Hi @pmornelasperez@ucdavis.edu,

Thanks for the question! So all we need to get to the conclusion for this question are the first sentence and the second sentence.

So we know that all parrots can learn to speak a few words and phrases. In other words

Parrot —> Can learn to speak

Now what does the second sentence tell us? Well, the relevant part is that “some of those native to Australia can be counted on for a sweet temper.” In other words

Parrot & Native to Australia <—some—> Can be counted on for a sweet temper

But remember, ALL parrots can learn to speak. So if it’s a parrot and native to australia, it can also learn to speak. So we can also say

Parrot & Native to Australia & Can learn to speak <—some—> Can be counted on for a sweet temper

And that’s just a subset of parrots that can learn to speak, so we can also say

Parrot & Can learn to speak <—some—> Can be counted on for a sweet temper

And that’s what gets us to (A).

Hope this helps! Feel free to ask any other questions that you might have.
