Explain how Sub->OC, connects, OC-> prop
I understood the breakdown of the stimulus for the most part, but then I noticed that y'all connected Subsudy -> OC, then OC-> propaganda. I did not make this connection in my initial diagram and am still having trouble seeing how that leap was made. Please clarify !

You actually don't need to make the jump to propaganda to properly draw this conclusion. The explanation provided aims to show you how to thoroughly diagram all aspects of the stimulus. However, the correct answer choice can actually be drawn using only the second conditional outlined in the explanation.
Let's run through the stimulus to show you what I mean.
"If the press were not profit-making, who would support it? The only alternative is subsidy and, with it, outside control."
In other words, if the press were not profit-making, then it must be subsidized AND if the press were subsidized, then it would be subject to outside control.
Not profit-making --> Subsidize Not subsidize --> Profit-making
Subsidize --> Outside control Not outside control --> Not subsidize
"No one will subsidize honest journalism." In other words, if the press is subsidized, then it will not produce honest journalism.
Subsidize --> Not honest journalism Honest journalism --> Not subsidize
Now we can make our transitive chain from the above reasoning. Notice how we don't need to use "subsidize --> outside control."
Not profit-making --> Subsidize --> Not honest journalism Honest journalism --> Not subsidize --> Profit-making
Honest journalism --> Profit-making
In other words, if the press produces honest journalism, then it must be profit-making. This is directly restated by answer choice (D), making it the correct answer.
Hope this helps clear things up a bit! Please let us know if you have any further questions.
