Either/Or Relationship

Please help diagram: to be happy you must be either rich or famous but not both. Would one create two separate diagrams to consider, or could this claim be expressed in one?

Hi @Gabrela-Harewood,

Thanks for the question! So we have the sentence “to be happy you must be either rich or famous but not both.” So one very direct way to diagram this would be something like

R v F & ~(R & F) —> H

And so you can express this claim in one diagram. I think it’s probably better to do so in one, because otherwise you might forget “but not both.”

Hope this helps! Feel free to ask any other questions that you might have.
