hi, i was confused about how did u diagram this

why is "no one who works for the president will be able to take time off during July" diagram as P->~JV, why not ~P->JV? I got stuck on this type of question because I often diagram this type of sentence wrong. I know the contrapositive for A->B is ~B->~A

@Amelia, here's how I'd diagram this one:

VB-->SB
AW-->not SB
VB-->not AW

The premises tell us that if you played volleyball, you got sunburned and that if you're at work today, you're not sunburned. The conclusion o the argument is that all of the volleyball players didn't go to work today.

The reason you diagram "no one who works for the president will be able to take time off during July" as P-->not JV is because with "no," you negate the necessary condition of the conditional statement. Thus, you negate JV, not P.
