Keep in mind I got this wrong as well; But I didn't go with C because the stimulus doesn't say that the psychological theories are scientific explanations, just that they provide better results than their more scientific rivals. The implication I took away is that on scientific merit the rivals are better. The Stimulus is concerned with the results not the method. The wording on this one is definitely confusing but I suppose it makes good practice.
