General statements vs. conclusion

In question 6 the statement " Few politicians will support legislation that conflicts with their own self-interest" is seen as a general statement but in question 7 "It is unlikely that the world will ever be free of disease" is a conclusion. I was thinking that question 7 conclusion sounds like a general statement. How can I better differentiate them?

Hi @Tiffanysara,

Thanks for the question! So conclusions can be general statements, and general statements can be conclusions. They aren’t two entirely different concepts, there’s some overlap. For example, “killing hurts people. Therefore, killing is wrong.” The statement “killing is wrong” is a conclusion there, but it’s also a general statement, right? So conclusions are just statements—general or not—that premises support. General statements can be conclusions or premises!

Hope this helps! Feel free to ask any other questions that you might have.
