Second sentence
Any advice on wordy sentences like the second sentence. Even after reading the explanation I legitimately have no idea what any of the words in the second sentence mean.

Thanks for the question! I think the secret with long, confusing sentences is to just break them down into their constituent parts that are hopefully more easily understandable. So here, for example, the original second sentence is “the body of information against which the public evaluates the plausibility of each new media report comes, however, from what the public has heard of through the mass media.”
So let’s try to break this down. The public is evaluating new media reports and how believable they are. And there’s a body of information they use to evaluate those reports. And so that body of information? It’s from the mass media itself.
Hope this helps! Feel free to ask any other questions that you might have.
