Thanks for the question! So a principle can be a premise, or it can be a conclusion. A principle is just a statement that applies widely and is generally normative, or prescribes something, AKA says something about the way the world should be. So for example, “killing is wrong” is a general principle that applies in a wide variety of circumstances. But it can be a conclusion or a premise. So it’s not one or the other, a principle can be a premise.
