Thanks for the question! So first of all, what is the conclusion here? It’s the last sentence, that understanding what a word means clearly doesn’t depend on being able to explain it. And now we’re looking for something that’ll justify this conclusion. Notice that in the rest of the passage, the concept of understanding what a word means isn’t mentioned. So we need something that connects the rest of the passage to the concept of “understanding” a word. Since (E) doesn’t mention understanding at all, it doesn’t do that, and so can’t be the correct answer.
