Which one of the following best states the main idea of the passage?

Why is 62 A?

I put B for this. Even though B didn't feel 100% right, none of them did and B felt the most right. A discusses resistance as the main idea but the passage doesn't talk about resistance until the last paragraph and it isn't mentioned once before that.

Thanks for the question! So remember that this question is asking for the main point. (B) talks about an adequate comparison and contract of Russian serfdom and US slavery, but only the first part of the first paragraph talks about this. The main point of the paragraph talks about who did it and their ideas.

This is best summed up in (A). First, the author points out the difference between the two. The word “resistance” doesn’t need to be actively mentioned in each paragraph as long as the idea is there. And in fact, the discussion about resistance is built up to from the rest of the paragraphs, which first talk about differences and then specifically talk about differences in resistance.
