Why is C not the correct answer?

Please explain. The problem states that if M finds things scandalous in nature on L's record that she will run against him. Answer C states that scandal was discovered, but she didn't run against him. This contradicts what was stated in the argument, so why wouldn't this be false/the correct answer?

Hi @shaase,

Thanks for the question! Remember that this is a “must be false” question. So any answer that “could be true,” even if it seems unlikely, is not the correct answer. (C) tells us that it must be false that Lutz’s record has scandalous items, and McConnell doesn’t run against him. Does that have to be false? No, it doesn’t. (C) could still be true if Lutz has a large campaign fund. Because remember, we’re told that if Lutz has a large campaign fund, then McConnell won’t run against him, with no other qualifications.

Hope this helps! Feel free to ask any other questions that you might have.
