If Kelly occupies the aisle seat in row 3, then each of the following must be true EXCEPT:

From the question explanation, should answer B be considered cannot be true instead of could be true?
I understand that answer choice B distinguishes that Hoffman sits in the same row as Lapas does not have to be true, but I thought this answer also CANNOT be true because it violates rule 2; Moore occupies the window seat and therefore Hoffman and Lapas cannot sit in the same row as each other. In the explanation it states that it could be true but doesn't have to be true, but I'm struggling in understanding how it could be true. Not sure if this makes sense but let me know if I can elaborate!

Thanks for the question! So actually, it’s the case that (B) could be true or could be false, not that it must be false. What you did is a mistaken negation of that conditional. Because rule 2 says
M aisle —> H same row as L
And what you got from that was
~M aisle —> ~H same row as L
which is a mistaken negation.
Hope this helps! Feel free to ask any other questions that you might have.
