Why D for the answer?

If there is the chance to use two birdcages instead of one then why is it not possible to place R and W into the cages but not in the same ones that would go against the rules and use M and N as exhibited. I made mine like this: Cage 1: Q,W,K Cage 2: T,R,J Exhibited: S,M,N,H

Hi @TonyStorniolo,

Happy to help!

I think you have forgotten the condition outlined in the stimulus. The breeder exhibits pairs of birds consisting of one male and one female of the same kind.

In your current exhibit, you have a pair of lovebirds, but the other two birds are a male goldfinch and a male parakeet.

If Q and T are among the birds assigned to the cages, then a pair of parakeets (one male and one female) must be exhibited.

Why? Because Rule 2 tells us that any two birds that are both of the same sex and of the same kind as each other cannot be caged together.

As there are only two cages, one of the male parakeets must be exhibited or else Rule 2 will be broken.

This question stem tells us that T must be in the cages. This means that the female half of the parakeet pair exhibited must be W. Rule 3 tells us that, if W is exhibited, then S cannot be exhibited. This means that Q and S must be kept in separate cages and R must be exhibited.

Hope this helps! Please let us know if you have any further questions.
