Same C seems correct, Scandalous items guarantee that MC will run, no?

Hi, there is a two part test in the passage. First, there is the campaign fund, if L had a large fund she will not run. If there isn't a large fund, then she will check to see if there is scandal. However if the first test is failed, then she won't even bother checking for scandal.
This is a question that's easy to over diagram. These are actually two linked conditional statements, if large fund then no run, if no large fund then check scandal, if scandal the run.it's important to understand that these tests are sequential rather than simultaneous.

So how is the correct answer any different from C? If there is nothing in Ls record that increases Ms chances of winning, then wouldn't it be possible that she will not run because he has a large campaign fund. The same logic being that if one test fails then the next option won't even be attempted

That's because the tests are sequential. The first test is the money. We only need to go to the second test (scandal) if the first test is passed. If the first test is failed, then we don't even look at the record for hints of scandal.Erika on July 8 at 07:51PM
But in order for that be correct wouldn't you have to incorrectly reverse without negating? Because we know if not large campaign fund then scrutinize record, but we cannot know that if she is scrutinizing record that guarantees that he does not have a large campaign fund because that would be incorrectly reversing the logicErika on July 8 at 07:52PM
Because not having a large campaign fund guarantees she will scrutinize for scandals but scrutinizing for scandals cannot guarantee Lutz does not have a large campaign fund.Erika on July 8 at 07:59PM
Also, I'm confused as to the elimination of C. The answer choice says "Lutz’s record contains scandalous items" but the narrator says "we don't have scandal" and crosses out SC. How does that make sense?
