Comprehension issues?

Hi there! Maybe I misunderstand this question due to comprehension issues, but the wording of answer choice C doesn't make sense to me. "This answer choice is correct because it shows that advertisers withdrew even though it meant taking a financial loss. By eliminating a financial explanation for the switch, this answer increases the likelihood that there was a moral motivation." The answer choice C doesn't say that the advertisers actually stopped advertising, it just makes what seems to be a hypothetical statement. The other answer choices are written in a way that seems less hypothetical. Can anyone help me understand? I have read the rest of the message board for this question, but I still don't understand. Thank you.

I agree. I am confused because the answer choice did not say that the advertiser left and stopped advertising. In need of further clarification of what tells us in the answer choice that they stopped advertising.

I am also confused for the same reason as above. I went through all the other threads and that did not explain it to me either. I thought it as more of a then saying if they stayed sales were to increase but if they left the sales would have increased, and not exactly stating which one actually happened. I hope that makes sense.

I'm confused because answer C doesn't make sense to me. So the advertisers wanted their sales to decrease?

I get it. The reason why c is the answer is that the stimulus says some advertisers are "motivated by moral as well as financial considerations" this is strengthened by C because the advertisers took a cut by taking their stance. They were expecting to make money but because of their convictions they pulled and are expecting to lose now. Strengthening the argument. I didn't get this right, I rarely get any of these right the first time but see crystal clearly when the right answer is presented.
