Help Needed! (Must Be True - SEC 3 Q16)

I chose A because I thought it made better sense than C since A stated that if you do not have the variations you will lose data. Is the reason I got it wrong because I equated the unauthorized access with losing data? I am not sure how C is the correct answer either. Please explain.

A is wrong because it isn't guaranteed. The passage tells us this is a good method, but it doesn't mean that any company that fails to implement it is guaranteed to get hit with a virus.

C is correct because it more or less restates the passage. The passage is saying that this approach could stop it from hitting EVERY computer. This implies that some computers would be unprotected, but the majority would be safe. That is, the hacker could get access to one version of the OS, but not be able to spread to the other versions.
