Question Setup Axes

Hi! I started diagramming the question with the courses as the categories and the grades as the variables (reverse of how she sets up the game in the explainer video). Is this a common problem in ambiguous questions like this and how do you know which set of data are your categories and which are your moveable variables? Thank you,

Hi @BRAM,

Generally, in a linear game, you will want to put anything that has a natural sequence or order as the base and the other group as the pieces. This could be days of the week, months, position in a race/line, etc. In this case, the grades have a natural order, A - E, so it will be easiest visually to use those as the base and the courses as pieces. We can then represent rules such as the first rule in this game as blocks, which would not be possible if we reverse the setup.
