Though I got this question right. Would you explain something?

As I contemplated this question, does the word "SUPPOSE" makes this question's answer the logical equivalent of the question COULD BE FALSE. Would the question ending in EXCEPT make the answer Must be True?

Hey @Lamont, great question!

"Suppose," in this case, indicates that we are to take the situation as true.

Ex: Suppose I'm superman, what's the first thing I would do?

The word does NOT affect how we start looking for the answer, only that we are to take the given situation.

The next part of this is the Could be False. This means we are looking for something that is possible, but is also possible not to be. In other words, something that is not necessarily true.

Finally, in your hypothetical, let's suppose [see what I did there ;) ] that the question read "each one of the following could be false except." This would mean each answer has the possibility to be wrong, but for one of them it is impossible for it to be wrong. The one right answer Must Be True.

Hope this helps!

The "suppose" here is just to introduce the hypothetical situation. Yes, this question is asking us which of the following could be false (is not necessarily true). If the question said "any of the following could be false except", then yes it would be asking us which must be true.

Again, Jay, you guys rock. It has taken a while for me to take advantage of your answer here because you breathe life into the nitty-gritty of logical reasoning.

Naryan, sorry for leaving you out. Your explanation was great and I understand now why it's important to not just look for keywords only to find the right answer. I believe your redirection of how to really read the stimulus question and what it's asking for along with Jay's input helped me greatly.
