This question is asking for the main point of the passage. Looking at the passage, we see that the main point is the first half of the first sentence, as the rest of the stimulus is geared toward supporting this claim.

The German shepherd and poodle examples—as well as analogies about the police and seeing-eye dogs—are all geared toward supporting the first half of the first sentence where it talks about a pit bull not being an actual breed of dog. Thus, we're looking for an answer that paraphrases the first half of the first sentence.

With C, this does a great job of summarizing the main point of the pit bull classification pertaining to the dog's function, not its breed. Therefore, C is our correct answer choice.

Hi, why is this argument flawed?

I would also like to know why the argument is flawed? I got the correct answer however I feel being able to determine whether or not and argument is flawed is very important

Hi, on the whole this argument looks pretty good. My only real quibble is that just because in some cases knowing a dogs occupation does not mean knowing it's breed, the author assumes this is never the case. Perhaps there is a dog for which the breed and the occupation are always the same? This feels unlikely, but that's my best attack against the argument. Honestly I would be surprised if this passage were used for an error in reasoning/weaken question type that hinges on your understanding of the flaw.
