Was torn between B and D

Hello, I don’t know if I am missing something, but I got stuck between B and D as the diagram I had drawn up supported both of them. I chose D over B out of pure intuition. Was my diagram missing something important?

Grace is an important player in this game, since it’s mentioned in three of the four rules. Whenever Grace is mentioned, we’ll need to make sure we’re applying all of those rules. So, if Grace is Monday morning and Zeno is Wednesday morning, we’ll have this diagram:

M: G _ Z
A: _ _ _
M T W

Rule 1 tells us that the other two hotels, J and L, must go Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning or afternoon. Rule 2 tells us J must go after G. Rule 3 tells us that S cann’t go Monday afternoon.

Additionally, there’s a conditional rule, so we’ll have to always check if it gets triggered (either by Zeno going on in morning, or Lido going in the afternoon. In this case, Zeno is going in the morning. So, Rule 4 tells us that Lido must also be inspected in morning. The only morning slot left is Tuesday morning, so our setup looks like:

M: G L Z
A: _ _ _
M T W

Since S can’t go Monday afternoon, it’s stuck going Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon. Either way, it’s going after Lido. This is why (D) is correct.

(B) is not correct because J could go Monday afternoon, before L. So (B) doesn’t need to be true.

Finally, a couple of pointers. When you’re reviewing a game and you ever can’t figure out why one answer choice is correct, go back to the rules and try to figure out why that answer choice is correct on you own. I don’t say that because we don’t want to help you. I say this because it’s far more helpful if you can figure these things out on your own. Doing so we’ll get you more experience figuring out how these games work, which will make it more likely you’ll catch these inferences and get more questions correct in the future!
