Please Explain

Why is the max 6 and not 4? I thought the combination was 3-4/4-3? Very confusing.

Hi SMA,

I think we have uneven/uncertain numbers here. We have seven volunteers, and two committees. However, we are never told that every volunteer must be on a committee, nor that each volunteer can only be on one committee.

I think that (with the exception of F and K) the volunteers can be on both committees- so 5 would be on both, and F/K would serve as the sixth on either committee

I must be mistaken in thinking they are asking how many each group can have in common? Meaning F and K are in different groups which gives the number in common for each group 5.

F & K
J & J
M & M
G & G
H & H
L & L

We have the top up top not in common. Count the other similarities and we have 5. Im obviously wrong, but that is how I read it. How can I read it next time and not miss it?

I think a better way of putting it that I was able to last year is that we could have all five of the non f/Ks on both committees, and then then one of f or k as the sixth on both. This would mean the two committees would have identical rosters. It would look a bit like this
P: G H L M J K
T: G H L M J K

We could also replace the Ks with Fs.
