I can see why A is right....but

Honestly, when I read this passage, I knew that the flaw was that the author was assuming that just because something is desirable it HAS to be technological superior. That isn't true. People can desire something that isn't technological superior. There could be other factors as to why people choose something that is more desirable other than stating that it MUST be technologicaly superior. I picked E because it was making an assumption. Unless I'm incorrect about presupposition not meaning assumption. Presuppose and assumption I often confuse those terms to mean the same thing but I guess it's not. But A was obvious but lack of vocab terminology can also lead to the wrong answer...

I've gotten into arguments with people over things similar to this and it's obvious the author is trying to convince me that in order for something to be desirable it has to also be somehow superior. That's obviously not true. But whatever! I won't forget this question.

Hi Angel,

The flaw here is not that the author assumes that tech superiority is better. The author never states that "social is better because it is technologically superior." Rather, the author concludes it is technologically superior because mortality rates are lower. The flaw is that the author ignores a possible cause of lower mortality, which is better access.

E is incorrect because the author does not assume the desirability to socialized medicine in general. This has nothing to do with it being technologically superior.
