I was torn between A and E

I hate the way the LSAT words the answer choices. I understand the argument, but the way they word it makes it incredibly confusing for me to pick the right answer choice. The argument is based on the principle and the arguer is using the principle to substantiate the critics not being true poets just because the arguer did not find there work to be creative. There assuming there a poet and assuming there executing the principle for appeal to themselves. I get it. But I hate the way A is worded. :( Any tips in getting better in understanding LSAT language??? If not, no worries!! I look forward to watching more videos on understanding terms that are often used to confuse the student.

Hi @Angel92,

The LSAT is incredibly frustrating for their use of esoteric and convoluted language. You're not alone in feeling this way! However, LSAC is actually quite good at updating and formulating the exam to test things that are relevant to law. Legalese is filled with very convoluted language. Just look at your smartphone user agreement and you will find similarly confusing language. It's by design—to be a great lawyer you need to be able to sift through verbiage.

Thankfully, understanding this type of writing is a very learnable skill. LSATMax recommends reading the Economist, as their articles are worded in very similar terms. Personally, I can also recommend Skeptic Magazine, and Scientific American as two other sources I used to supplement my lexical learning while studying the LSAT. Exposing yourself to this stuff can really help.

Finally, try reading and wrapping your head around some legal decisions. Google Scholar offers access to cases across the U.S. Pick one and try reading through it!

Hope this helps!

Thank you for your explanation. I will keep the sources in mind. I have the Economist and I love it! I'm glad I'm not alone.
