Question 1, P first and last

Hello! Can someone please explain why, in question 1, a correct scenario could not be created with P first and last? What is wrong with P-P-H-L-T-P ? The only answer I could think of would be that it's incorrect because T precedes P, which is not the interpretation of the wording of rule 5 that was applied in the final question. Thanks

I think your hypothetical works but (D) would still not be correct for question 2. This question asks “The first and last messages on the answer machine could be the first and *second* messagse left by which one of the following?” In your hypothetical, the first and last messages are Pascal’s first message and Pascal’s *third* message.
