Out of curiosity, how long are you taking to read a passage like this that you feel good about? Often, I struggle on questions when I find the topic interesting, and as a result, may fail to notice important details, or fail to fully understand the positions of the various groups/people being described. I would advocate slowing down in your initial read of the passage if this happens often.
