When finding main points, I like to use what I call a "therefore" test. That is, if you are looking to choose between two statements, X and Y, try saying X therefore Y, and Y before X. The one that makes sense shows which statement supports the other. For example, here we have

We can try "Bikers know what they want before they shop, therefore it is better to advertise early (before bikers begin to shop).
And "It is better to advertise early (before bikers begin to shop), therefore Bikers know what they want before they shop.
Since the former makes more sense, we can know that bikers knowing what they want supports the idea that it is good to advertise early.
