Answer D

I'm having some trouble with answer D being correct. Where does the passage state the lack of REM cycle and the large anteater brain are unexplained? It doesn't say they are explained by another theory, but isn't it a leap to say because the passage doesn't provide an alternate explanation, no other theory adequately explains the phenomena? Thanks for any help

Hi MasonDees,

I think the operative word here is "otherwise." We are never told why the anteater has no REM sleep or a large brain, so It would be fair to say that these facts are not explained by what we know. Additionally, the author considers these facts to be "interesting" and "anomalous." While this may not add up to being clearly unexplained, from the context I would say these facts are not explained.
