Which one of the following is a pair of campers who must purchase exactly the same number of items as each other?

why?

Why must J and K purchase the same number of items as each other? K has to purchase two items to ensure rule #3 isn't violated. However, isn't it possible that J just purchases 1 item being r? I really don't get it. :/

Hi Abigail,

We actually know that J must have exactly two items. We know he has an R from the first rule, and from rule 3, H and K can have nothing in common, so H can only have R. Since J must have one of the two items that H did not purchase (S or T), then J must have two items.
