This is a tough one. The author thinks that we should buy pans with warranties because the warranty is a guarantee of quality. This is because the companies would not offer the warranty if the pan was not good, otherwise they would need to reimburse a lot of customers.
However, what if customers who bought a defective pan simply never filed for a refund with the warranty? In this case, the warranty would no longer be a guarantee that the pan is good, because companies could offer a warranty on a bad pan with little reason to worry about having to reimburse a lot of customers.
