"... all that is needed..." diagramming

Quick question, but I continuously diagram the politician's claim incorrectly as: ~E --> ~D I know when I read this as if it is using "if", it makes sense. BUT there have been times where I have seen "required"/similar terms used to introduce necessary. When the language is not the clear S&N terms laid out, I struggle with diagramming. Could you please explain my error in logic in understanding how to diagram this claim, as well as maybe other advice in approaching how to decipher what is S and N when other terminology is present

Hi, this is indeed a tough conditional. I like to think about conditional statements in terms of guarantees. Every conditional follows this rough format "if X, then Y is guaranteed". So, in this case, we need to read the statement carefully to see what we are saying guarantees something else. We are told that all we need to do to save the koala is to stop deforestation. "All we need to do" is saying that this one thing is enough to guarantee a result. So, it is saying that stopping deforestation would guarantee the survival of the koala.
