Painting

Why wouldn't the answer be "(A): Abstract paintings often include shapes or forms that are suggestive of real objects or emotions?" The passage, to me, seems a bit harder than the previous ones. First, it states no reasons why figurative paintings were revived. Then, it states that "People want to look at recognizable images. Sorting out art theories reflected in abstract paintings is no substitute for the sense of empathy that comes from looking at a realistic painting of a figure in a landscape." I had read the explanation for the correct answer, but am still a bit confused.

Hi, this is a bit odd as the conclusion is More or less the first two sentences. You're right the author gives us no support in the first sentence for the fact that it is unsurprising representative art came back, but the second sentence tells us why, which is because people like representation in art. The rest of the passage gives more detail to support the idea that the demand for more representative art was a factor in the revival. This is a good match for E. The author never comes close to telling us A.
