How is C correct?

C would be correct if it didn't incorporate "of one of L's students." Who cares if it's just one of the students, we don't know how many students L had. What if L had a 1,000 students? Does that really weaken? Not really if you ask me.

Hi, we need to remember what the actual argument is. The author is saying that since the painting has O, which L never used, it must have been one of his students. We are trying to weaken the idea that the paining is by one of Ls students.

If none of his students used O, then it would weaken the idea that the painting was by one of them. It directly undermines the sole premise supporting the idea that it was one of his students.
