I wrote out L and S -> not M (based on the last rule), negated this would be M -> not L or not S, right? because this would then imply that since M is in D that L or S could not be present. S is present and yet it is the correct answer? thanku

The initial statement is if both L and S then not M. The contrapositive of that would be that if M is in, then not both L and S. So, it would be ok if one of L or S is in with M as long as both are not in.
